Our Family Roots

The Carthon family has a rich and colorful family history.  We as a family have endured the hardships of slavery, segregation, integration, service in the military during all of America's wars, and have still maintained our family ties. The farthest I can go back is my Great-Great-Grandmother, Janie McCloud, who was the mother of Mary (McCloud) Carthon who birthed 13 children for Sam Carthon.  We all trace our roots from this couple, Mary and Sam Carthon.  Take a tour of who is related to you by blood or marriage by clicking on the name of your "Tap Root", which is one of the 13 children.  They are not in birth order, and whoever can supply additional information, please do so.  We would like to compile as complete a family history as possible.  The "13" are listed in alphabetical order without regard to birth order.  Our family reunion began in 1986, although we have lost many family members and family friends along the way, we continue to grow as a family through marriage and births. We are a family that welcomes all of our immediate, extended family, and friends to celebrate with us.  We truly feel and believe "The More, the Merrier".
